The opening round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics is all set to take place at Hisense Arena in Melbourne from the 2nd till the 4th of December this year.
Our own Anna Meares will be competing, along with 250 cyclists from more than 35 countries. Fresh from her mighty success in Delhi, Anna is relishing the thought of competing in front of an Australian crowd and hopes to be part another winning Aussie team.
“We’re getting set to take on all comers and as the first World Cup round to offer qualifying points for the 2012 Olympic Games we’ll be extra keen to impress,” said 27-year-old Meares
“If you think the action was hot in Delhi just wait until Melbourne,” she said.
Tickets are now on sale for the event which will see a host of World, Olympic and Commonwealth Champions in action. The events being contested include all those on the new Olympic Games program.
Anna is the reigning World Champion in the 500m time trial so is hoping for a good result in Melbourne. Go Anna!!
